BPMH is a small institution that over many decades has sought to live out values and practices that I think are central to the Christian faith. These values and practices include hospitality, friendship across the many divisions that societies create such as divisions of wealth, nationality, religion, languages and gender, and solidarity with others, especially the poor and the oppressed.
What does BPMH mean to you?
Since I am a Presbyterian who grew up in Berkeley, I have been familiar with BMPH for decades, and I have found it a place full of engaging and interesting and welcoming people from around the world. My mother was a Board member of BPMH for many years, and through her I came to have a special affection for the people and the work, the residents, of BPMH.
Dreams & Vision for BPMH
My hopes for the future of BPMH are that it continues to welcome and serve through the housing it offers, and through the community it helps create, international individuals who come to Berkeley to study, and their families from all over the world, and from various religious traditions.
Motto/Words of Encouragement
May BPMH be an example that invites, encourages and motivate others to, in their own ways, live into the vision it seeks to embody.
