Our Community

BPMH is a non-profit organization that provides affordable housing for scholars and students who study abroad and aim to be religious leaders in their home countries. We believe that every student deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home while pursuing their education. Our mission is to provide a supportive community that nurtures the spiritual growth and leadership skills of our residents.

We invite you to become a part of our mission to empower the next generation of religious leaders. By supporting BPMH, you are helping us provide affordable housing, a vibrant community, and leadership development opportunities for students who are passionate about making a positive impact in their communities. Join us in creating a brighter future for all of us.

1. Climate-Oriented Renovations: We will electrify the campus and seek to go solar in the near future. Our goal is to be carbon-free by the year 2029.

2. Financial Stability: In order to maintain our sustainability, we seek to be financially responsible and seek to balance our income and expenditures.
3. Renewing our Community: We seek dialogue with our residents and offer opportunities for growth and unity.

4. Connecting with local churches and organizations: We actively explore ways to establish partnerships and networks to support our residents.

5. Future Resident Populations: In collaboration with the Graduate Theological Union and other sending organizations, we aspire to identify future potential residents and faith leaders on furlough.

Among our partners are the GTU with all its affiliates, St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Montclair Presbyterian Church Oakland (MOPC), College Ave Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, First Presbyterian Church of Oakland, the California Interfaith Power & Light (CIPL), etc. We hope to connect to more institutions in the near future.

We welcome visitors to our community and encourage you to meet our Executive Director. Our coffee and cookies times are Wednesdays to Fridays from 3pm to 4pm. Please contact us beforehand so that the ED can reserve enough time for you to learn more about our organization.
